10 reviews for CERAKOTE® Ceramic Trim Coat Kit – Quick Plastic Trim Restorer – Ceramic Coating…

  1. Vince

This trim coat kit has like magical properties. It treats both old and new plastic trim and rubber. It practically made the door seals on my 20 y/o truck “like new” again. I removed and cleaned the plastic fender wells and then I treated it with this ceramic trim coat and even they appear to be “brand new.” All it took was a little grease in that elbow zirk fitting, and a little time, and then CERAKOTE ceramic trim coat did the rest. This product is phenomenal!Pros: easy to use, excellent treatment for plastic trim and rubber seals, long lasting effects, great results with the proper prep work, easier to clean after treatmentCons: tricky application for nonporous/smooth plastics and bad results are definitely possibleThe prep work can be very time consuming, but with a bit of diligence, the results can astonish you. My truck has reached the 2 year mark and the treated trim and rubber still look great. It is easy to determine when it’s time for another treatment.I used steel wool on most of the parts to be treated and it turned out great! Yes I used steel wool on rubber and it worked fine when the purpose is to remove oxidation and not to destroy the rubber. I could hardly believe how the fender wells turned out. After a thorough cleaning using steel wool and Dawn mild soap solution, the fender wells look brand new after I wash the vehicle. They’ve also keep that clean black look for two years now.My next ceramic trim coat purchase will the the Pro kit that comes in a small bottle. No more wipes to deal with. Apply via applicator of choice.

Car looks amazing. This really works to restore the black color of the plastic trim on the exterior. The door handles and mirrors had a smooth plastic finish and I took a chance and used it on those parts too. It took longer to dry than the textured trim, but it looks equally as amazing. So easy to use. These are white wipes that are wet with a chemical solution, that when rubbed over black plastic trim (that looks “milky” and has lost luster) restores it to the black color when the car was new. Really amazing. Follow directions. Only use on exterior of car, only on plastic parts. I think there was 12 wipes (individually wrapped) and I used 6 on my Honda CR-V. Comes with plastic gloves. Can also use your own plastic or latex gloves.

I’m generally pretty skeptical of most products that claim they improve the look of faded plastic as they are always just temporary and come off in a matter of weeks or after your first car wash. But since this is ceramic coating it actually seems to be permanent. That said you need to be quite careful when applying it and follow all the instructions. Use gloves with this stuff as it definitely smells like it would be hazardous to have on your skin. I was sure to wash my car and then clean off all the plastic pieces I wanted to treat with isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease or chemicals that were left on the plastic. My Ford Bronco isn’t that old but I could tell the plastic was already starting to fade and there is quite a bit of it on the car so I wanted to pre treat it. A few months in it looks amazing. I’ve gone off roading, gotten paint on some of the fenders, and wash the car at least 30 times and the plastic pieces still look new. The coating is still very much intact and Wicks away most dirt and debris. I even sadly drove over some wet paint in the road and it was almost impossible to get off the areas I didn’t treat but the ones that did literally just wiped right off after it had already dried. Recommend this product but you need to make sure you use it properly and follow the instructions otherwise you will not get the results you want. I will say all the plastic on the new Bronco seems to be very porous and texturized so maybe it absorbed the product really well. I have not used it on any smooth plastic so I can’t speak to that.

  4. Star

Used on my 2015 jeep sahara and it completely restored all the worn grey plastic to a nice semi glossy black. I didn’t even use all the wipes and was able to do some spots on my other cars trim as well so it’s a good value. Fast and easy to do. Looks like the jeep is brand new now. I will definitely buy this again when it wears off eventually. Tip: do this outside and not in a garage as the fumes are pretty intense.

I used the wipe towel version first. The towels did not work very well. I ordered this professional product and it works great. I just put the application on top of the open bottle and tip it on two sections of the applicator. It lasts a long time putting it on the car. The bottle will last for many applications. Easy to use with great results.

  6. Manuel

This works amazingly. Great value for the price. Easy to apply. Last a long time. Applied to trim over 3 months ago washing car weekly with constant sun exposure and still looks like a fresh shine.

When I got the box with the enclosed wipes, I was a bit skeptical that I could complete the job with what was provided. I washed each vehicle and then wiped the cladding down with rubbing alcohol with a rag.  I used this on my Ford Transit full size van, and my Honda Ridgeline. The effects on the Transit are incredible. I’ve tried numerous restoration products from Mothers, Turtle wax and others to restore those black plastic claddings running full down each side, and they look good for a month or so, but the fade usually comes back after a few washes. Transit has been washed 8-10 times since application and it still is as black as the first day applied. The Honda is new, and thought after using on the other vehicle would just apply and trust the protection will ensure they stay black. It took 9 of the ten wipes to complete both trucks. I have a dark sided home on a lake, and the trim around the porch lights, hose, and dryer vents are all matching maroon, but get sun faded especially on the south side of my house. I cleaned the trim again with soap/water, and a alcohol rag. Used my last wipe to restore the hose and dryer vent trims. They came out looking better than ever. I purchased another package to finish the house trim. This produce says use for black plastic trim, but it works also on my house trim. I should have taken before / after photos of those pieces, but did take before and after of the light trims. It doesn’t seem to be initially enough to do an entire vehicle, but each wipe restores a big area. It does what it says, and I’m very pleased with the results for both projects. Highly recommend

  8. Ed Barrera

I had plenty of white wax stains on my 2016 GMC all terrain SLT trim. I first used alcohol to go over the areas to polish and then applied this cerakote product. Let it sit for awhile and it looks so nice, black trim on white. I highly recommend and hopefully next treatment will be easier. I wish they made a liquid bottle.

Looks good – photo shows the bottom trim with the application and the one over the trie without. A little streaky but that could have been my application process. If so, I would recommend going in one direction versus back and forth. But overall, looks great on my MINI. I just applied so I can’t speak to the longevity of the product but it was easy to use and delivers on the look!

  10. Butler Designs

Used on my grayed out plastic front bumper, & rear bumper cover on 08 Tundra, and restored it back to black. Has lasted over a month sitting out in 110 deg heat. It also restored the black on my Harley Ultra inner fairing. Great product, easy to apply. I do recommend wearing gloves, & wash the surface good before applying. Took 3 of the rags to do my truck, 1 to do wife’s Kia Sorento & bike inner fairing.
